Here is a nice pink zircon on white nepheline with black biotite from the CN rock dump in Bancroft. The rock was stockpiled here for use as railway ballast in times past when there was a railway passing through Bancroft. The rock they quarried JUST happened to be from a quarry (the Golding Keene Quarry) in an alkaline intrusive, in the area. A good example of the thorium and uranium bearing zircons (var. cyrtolite) from Bancroft. These reddish-brown crystals glow yellow under the UV.
