Vesuvianite

This specimen displays cavities of black amphibole crystals with one well formed root beer brown 7mm vesuvianite crystal sitting near the top. A very nice specimen from its type locality, named after the famous Mt. Vesuvius which erupted in 79 AD, burying Pompeii. These alpine Italian beauties are among the finest and most highly sought after examples of the species.
