Here is a well-formed, silky, black, euhedral Spinel crystal (with a little a side-car crystal) from MacDonald Island, located within Baffin Island in Nunavut. The occurrence is a diopside skarn contacted between a pegmatitic syenite and marble, the spinel occurs in calcite pods in the skarn. The specimen displays a bit of contact, however even with this it shows many isometric crystal system forms and remains a very attractive specimen from a long gone locality.
