The Newfoundland ZincĀ Mine has been closed for many years. It was a high grade zinc mine with very little galena, pyrite or other contaminants in the ore and so was relatively easy to mill and produced a very desirable concentrate. Here is a plate of the minerals common to the ore from a vug in the orebody; sphalerite, calcite and dolomite. Also some tiny chalcopyrite and marcasite crystals.
