This is a very large, well crystlized specimen of pyrite crystals from the shales of West Bay The Port au Port Peninsula, on the west coast of the island of Newfoundland has become a prolific producer of mineral specimens, in recent years. One of the most interesting is the occurrence of pyrite nodules and crystals in the shales of West Bay, Tea Cove, Lead Cove, etc. This piece has extra-large crystals with slightly curved faces for interesting appearance. Some of the shale remains attached for geological context. Beautiful and impressive!
