Here's a cabinet specimen of light honey coloured calcite on a matrix made up of sharp saddled matrix from the Pine Point Mine. The mine is located at the southern shore of Great Slave Lake in Canada's North West Territories. The mine produced lead and zinc ores between 1964 and 1988 via open-pit methods. The town of Pine Point was built by the mining company, Cominco, and when the mine closed the town was abandoned and demolished. Although it has been closed since 1988, it could re-open in the near future. A fine example!
