These baryte crystals were revealed after etching off calcite that coated them. For some reason, the baryte crystals at Aguathuna are not zoned when formed before the calcite formed! The deposit at Aguathuna is a "white smoker", That is a sub-sea spring that precipitated barium sulphate instead of "black smokers" which precipitate black metal sulphides. Beautiful!
