The gemmy, root beer-brown crystals on this specimen are well formed, jumbled in their vug that saddles the top of the specimen. A classic specimen from its type locality, named after the famous Mt. Vesuvius which erupted in 79 AD, burying Pompeii. This alpine locality produces the finest and most highly sought after examples of the species.
