This attractive crystal is the rare manganoan variety of tremolite, an amphibole, distinguished by its lilac colour. It is only found in two New York counties, this piece comes from a well known talc mine in St. Lawrence county, the Gouverneur Talc Company Mine. It was named hexagonite due to its supposed hexagonal form, but has proven to be monoclinic. However the case, this is a sweet little crystal showing a six sided prism and a termination.
