$55.00

A lustrous blue-green specimen showing a glassy faces on all but the back side of the prism where the specimen is coated in a dense cluster of micro crystals.  The top and bottom of the specimen are contacted. It's a fairly large crystal for the area and is semi-translucent showing diffrent shades of grey to green in the interior. Very nice!

Tremolite from the area is often dubbed "actinolite". Tremolite and actinolite are two very similar minerals that form a series with each other and essentially share the same chemical formula. Tremolite has a greater presence of magnesium over iron, whereas actinolite has a greater presence of iron over magnesium. Analyses have shown that actinolite is very rare and most specimens like this are tremolite.
