Here's a single tremolite crystal, both highly lustrous and gemmy, and also shows some really gorgeous light refraction. There is a termination on the top and bottom of the crystal. There is some contact on the back side. Regardless this is an excellent example of the kind of tremolite that comes out of Norland.

Tremolite from the area is often dubbed "actinolite". Tremolite and actinolite are two very similar minerals that form a series with each other and essentially share the same chemical formula. Tremolite has a greater presence of magnesium over iron, whereas actinolite has a greater presence of iron over magnesium. Since we're unsure of the chemical difference we will use tremolite to identify these crystals. Tremolite is not uncommon in this area, most often found in the form of dense inter-grown fibrous material, thus making these gemmy and highly lustrous crystals something special!
