Here is a well-formed, silky-lustred, black, euhedral Spinel crystal from MacDonald Island, located off of Baffin Island in Nunavut. The occurrence is a diopside skarn contacted between a pegmatitic syenite and marble, the spinel occurs in calcite pods in the skarn. The specimen displays a number of isometric crystal system forms and has a bit of contact, however even with this it remains a very attractive, interesting specimen from a long gone, very remote locality.
