Sphalerite, Galena

This specimen shows nice sphalerite crystals on galena, and was collected from the Pine Point Mine. The mine is located at the southern shore of Great Slave Lake in Canada's North West Territories and, although it has been closed since 1988, it could re-open in the near future. The grey galena stands out under the lustrous, dark sharp pseudo-octahedral sphalerite crystal clusters that coat the top of the specimen.
