The Newfoundland ZincĀ Mine has been closed for many years. It was a high grade zinc mine with very little galena, pyrite or other contaminants in the ore and so was relatively easy to mill and produced a very desirable concentrate. Here is a plate of pretty well solid sphalerite in a sort of honeycomb formation, sprinkled with tiny marcasite crystals. Rich and interesting!
