An old stock section of silver vein. Cut on one side showing some high grade "herringbone" in carbonate from the Beaver Mine. Rich native silver running throughout with lots of silver showing on the uncut side too. The specimen also shows metallic pink breithauptite with the silver, especially noticeable on the uncut side. Rare!
The Beaver Mine, once one of the deepest mines in the Cobalt area originally worked between 1907 and 1940. The property was developed by two shafts (the deepest being 1600 feet) and 8.5 miles of drifts and crosscuts. Total production from 1907-1940 being approx. 7.1 million oz. of silver and 140,000 lbs. of cobalt.*
