This piece is mostly thick, native silver embedded in coarse creamy calcite vein matrix. There is also some bright, pitch black acanthite embedded in the calcite. Very rich! Elk Lake was a small mining camp between Gowganda and Cobalt that had some small, silver producers. An old geologist label attributes the piece to Elk Lake.
