This locality in Brazil is famous for specimens exhibiting epitaxial growth of rutile on hematite, often locked in overgrowths of quartz crystals. The fragile golden rutile and hematite crystals form first and later the quartz encapsulates them. This example has one tabular plate section of quartz connected to the one much larger base crystal. interesting paragenesis!
