Quartz, epimorphs after fluorite

Gringo Gulch
Patagonia, Santa Cruz County
Arizona
USA
Dimensions: 13.0x6.5x6.7 cm
Largest crystal size: 10mm mm
Price: CA

This cabinet specimen is well endowed with white octahedrons that are hollow! They are hollow because they once were fluorite octahedra that became coated with drusy quartz crystals and then the fluorite was dissolved away. This process led to the epimorphs that we see today. Handsome, interesting piece!
