Here's some lustrous, thick brassy pyrite blades after marcasite. This particular type of pseudomorph is what the Nanisivik Mine is best known for. The specimen also boasts some sphalerite crystals on the surface. Sphalerite was the main ore of the Mine. It's a unique specimen of epitaxially orientated pyrite from this long closed zinc mine. A great example for the mine!
The Nanisivik Mine was a zinc-lead mine in the company town of Nanisivik, Nunavut, 750 km (470 mi) north of the Arctic Circle on Baffin Island. The mine first opened on 15 October 1976 and permanently closed in September 2002 due to low metal prices and declining resources. Sphalerite was the main ore. It was one of the most northerly mines in the world.
Please note, this is a fairly heavy duty specimen and may require additional shipping.
