This specimen is classic Almaden, showing a rock breccia, cemented together with deep red cinnabar. The cinnabar is in veinlets throughout the rock with some open spaces exhibiting small crystals of cinnabar and droplets and linings of native mercury. Mercury has been mined at this place since the days of the Roman Empire! Excellent piece!
