This specimen shows a white, quartz matrix with dark green chlorite (which is probably altered wall rock) on one side. At the chlorite-quartz contact, there is rich native gold in a seam down the middle of the specimen. The red is spray paint resulting from the geologist or shift boss marking up the face underground, to direct the miners on what to do next. Famous, long closed underground mine!
