Gold is seen poking out of this specimen in quartz matrix alongside arsenopyrite. This specimen of gold ore comes from the Croesus Gold Mine, off of Highway 101. This mine produced the richest ore ever mined in Ontario. Samples of high-grade Croesus gold ore, possessed by the Ontario Department of mines, consisted of highly shattered grey quartz, cemented by irregular veinlets of Gold.*
