This specimen shows rich yellow gold on and in its quartz matrix. The piece also shows smears of serpentine as well as some pyrite and telluride mineralization.

It comes from the Bennet Mine, part of the larger Shining Tree project located 100km north of Sudbury, Ontario. Shining Tree was the subject of a 2006 Preliminary Economic Assessment prepared by Micon International, which examined the viability of an open pit mining operation.

A nice example from this unusual location.
