This is a showy, specimen of the rare copper-iron-germanium sulfide germanite ore from the Tsumeb Mine, the type locality. This specimen, rich in germanite, comes from level 37 of the Tsumeb Mine, deep in its third oxidation zone. This region is renowned for its incredible wealth of very rare elements and germanium-containing minerals. Calcite rhombs cover the surface of this specimen, adding a sparkling touch. A bit of reinerite and possibly chalcocite in the mix as well. An excellent specimen.
