This small cabinet specimen showcases an intriguing overgrowth of calcite on previously formed golden crystals, resulting in short hexagonal prisms that cap just the tips. The main crystal, which is doubly terminated, is prominently perched at the top of the piece. The specimen also features marcasite and hydrocarbon inclusions throughout, adding to its uniqueness.
This specimen originates from a quarry within the Beekmantown Formation, which spans several notable locations, including Saratoga Springs, NY; Herkimer, NY; St-Clothilde, Quebec; St-Eustache, Quebec; and Greely, Ontario.
