This specimen features a few sharp, light greenish Brazilianite crystals scattered across a thin plate of gemmy lustrous brown siderite crystals. Brazilianite is a rare phosphate species in the otherwise prolific phosphate localities of the Yukon. Rapid Creek, and its surrounding sites in the Yukon mining district, are renowned for their mineralogical diversity, though accessing these localities is notoriously difficult. The region is accessible for only a short period during summer due to harsh winter conditions that leave it buried under snow and ice most of the year.
This specimen, with its finely developed crystals, stands as an exceptional example of the unique finds from this remote yet mineralogically significant area.
