Zircon

Largest crystal size: 6 mm

$30.00

A classic thumbnail specimen featuring a well-formed bipyramidal zircon crystal perched on a dark oxidized matrix. While the crystal shows minor edge wear like chipping, it retains its sharp faces, well-defined terminations, and warm reddish-brown hue — all characteristic of zircon from this renowned alkaline intrusive complex. Collected by noted Mont Saint-Hilaire specialist Peter Tarassoff in 1971, this piece is not only an excellent example of zircon from one of the world’s most celebrated mineral localities, but also carries notable historical significance. A note on Peters label reads "Zircon with aegirine, natrolite, Fe and Mn oxides". A fine opportunity to add a classic, early Mont Saint-Hilaire zircon with provenance to any serious collection.
