The Kipawa Alkaline Complex is renowned for its wealth of rare minerals, but zircon is arguably the most prized crystallized species from this locality. This specimen is an outstanding example, featuring a highly lustrous, equant zircon crystal with a well-defined form. One end showcases multiple sharp, tetragonal-dipyramidal terminations, while the other remains attached to a small piece of amphibole matrix. The crystal also exhibits a yellow fluorescence. While the Kipawa Complex is known for producing sharp zircon crystals, specimens of this quality are uncommon and seldom available. This superb, sculptural thumbnail cluster is a remarkable addition to any fine mineral collection.
