Wulfenite, Chrysocolla

USA

$80.00

This specimen features a plate of chalky blue chrysocolla, with the host rock intersected by zones of bright blue chrysocolla. Scattered across the surface are striking, electric orange wulfenite crystals—an eye-catching contrast that is a characteristic of Rowley Mine specimens.

The Rowley Mine is located in the Painted Rock Mountains, approximately 27 miles west of Gila Bend, Arizona. Discovered in 1900, the mine saw intermittent production beginning around 1909, with its last recorded mining activity in 1923. Today, the site is worked on a small scale, primarily for mineral specimens and occasional deposits of massive chrysocolla. The mine is best known among collectors for its vibrant, highly aesthetic wulfenite and secondary copper mineral associations.
