This is a striking wulfenite specimen featuring deep red, tabular crystals with impressive internal gemminess. Wulfenite holds a special place in Arizona’s mineral heritage and was officially designated the state mineral in 2017. Among all the renowned localities for wulfenite, the Red Cloud Mine is arguably the most famous, having produced some of the finest and most vibrant specimens since mining began in the 1880s.
This particular specimen is a fine small cabinet display piece, showcasing fiery red-orange, bladed wulfenite crystals aesthetically positioned on a contrasting oxidized matrix. One standout crystal displays an elongated rectangular form, measuring approximately 9 mm, and features beautifully beveled modifying faces along its edges. The combination of colour, lustre, and crystal habit makes this a highly desirable specimen from a classic locality.
As collectors often say, “Wulfenite is Love!”
