This specimen is an excellent example of the rare mineral wolfeite. The half-nodule is densely packed with brown, radiating wolfeite crystal aggregates, making it a very rich specimen of this uncommon phosphate. Wolfeite is seldom seen, even at rich phosphate localities in the remote Yukon, and is nearly nonexistent from other places. The remote phosphate deposits of the Yukon are renowned as one of the world's great sources of rare phosphate species.
