This specimen features small brown aggregates of whitmoreite crystals, a relatively rare hydrated iron phosphate. Associated with minor Rockbridgeite, Jahnsite, Paravauxite, and Laureite. Whitmoreite was named in honour of Bob Whitmore, a prominent mineral collector from Weare, New Hampshire, and the former owner of the renowned Palermo Mine in Groton, New Hampshire. This specimen originates from the type locality of whitmoreite, the Palermo #1 Mine, which is globally recognized for its production of rare phosphate minerals. Whitmoreite typically forms as brown, elongated prismatic crystals or aggregates, often occurring alongside other phosphate minerals in complex pegmatitic environments, such as those found at Palermo.
