This specimen features a plate hosting numerous off-white wardite crystals, accented by a patch of dark greenish-black kulanite and a scattering of sharp siderite crystals all over. Together, these minerals create a striking and well-balanced composition that highlights the phosphate diversity for which the locality is renowned.
It originates from the world-famous phosphate occurrence at Rapid Creek in the Yukon’s remote Dawson Mining District. Rapid Creek is celebrated among mineralogists for producing over 40 different phosphate species, many of them rare and in some cases type-locality minerals. Collecting at this site is notoriously difficult due to its isolation, short field season, and harsh conditions, making fine specimens like this one both scientifically significant and highly desirable to collectors.
