This highly aesthetic specimen features a mass of crystalline wollastonite fibres from the world-famous Jeffrey Mine in Quebec, Canada. First off, wollastonite is not an incredibly common mineral for the Jeffrey. Secondly, the Jeffrey, a locality best known for its superb vesuvianite crystals that exhibit classic green or striking purple hues, this piece is a bit of an oddball, displaying glassy, translucent, honey-brown vesuvianite crystals reminiscent more of Italian vesuvianite than typical Jeffrey material.
Collectors familiar with the Jeffrey Mine will recognize that this colour is exceptionally rare for the locality, making it a significant addition to any collection. As the legendary mine is now long closed, high-quality specimens like this are increasingly difficult to acquire.
