Vesuvianite specimens from Ontario are rarely encountered, making this piece a noteworthy find. This crystal is a mottled greenish-brown, blocky, vesuvianite prism, from the Pinchin Quarry in Malone, Ontario. It was most likely etched from a calcite matrix. Remarkably, this is among the largest specimens I have observed from this location. Despite some contact marks and minor bruising, the crystal is in very good condition for what it is, considering its rarity and size. A significant piece for collectors interested in Grenvillian minerals.
