This specimen features bright yellow uranophane blades safely nestled within a 3mm vug. The surrounding matrix consists of grey quartz and purple fluorite. The specimen originates from the Terry Prospect near Monticello, New Mexico, where uranophane occurs within a breccia zone cutting through limestones. Discovered in 1948, the Terry Prospect was primarily a uranium and fluorine-fluorite mine. The intense radiation exposure has significantly darkened the fluorite, giving it an almost black appearance. This unique combination of minerals makes the specimen a noteworthy example of the region's mineral diversity.
