This specimen consists of a cluster of gemmy green tremolite crystals, featuring one prominent central prism surrounded by numerous smaller crystals at its base. There is no matrix present; the entire piece is composed of tremolite. The main crystal is a half prism, contacted at the back, but despite this, the specimen remains a good example of the tremolite found at this area. Tremolite from the area is often referred to as "actinolite," as the two minerals form a solid-solution series with nearly identical compositions—tremolite being magnesium-dominant, and actinolite containing more iron. Since the exact composition of these crystals is unknown, they are classified as tremolite. While tremolite is relatively common in the region, it usually appears as dense, white to grey fibrous intergrowths, making these fairly well-formed, green crystals a more exceptional and desirable occurrence.
