Namibia

A striking miniature specimen consisting of two attached schorl crystals displaying exceptional jet-black colour and superb vitreous lustre. The crystals are well formed and sharply terminated, with very little damage, only a few tiny rough spots visible on close inspection. The pair forms a very aesthetic composition and presents beautifully as a display piece. The specimen is essentially a floater, being largely crystallized all around.

Schorl is the black, iron-rich species of tourmaline and is well known from the famous Erongo Mountains of Namibia, a locality that has produced some of the finest crystallized examples of the species ever discovered. Finds from this region are particularly prized for their sharp crystal form and brilliant lustre. This top-notch specimen represents that material very well and also carries excellent provenance, having come from the respected mineral collection of Peter Tarassoff.
