This doubly-terminated elbaite crystal is a superb, multi-coloured example of classic tourmaline from the renowned pegmatites of Pakistan. The crystal displays a striking colour gradient, grading from deep green at the base through light green and finishing with soft pink at the top termination. This zoning is highly characteristic of the fine material discovered during the 1980s–1990s.
The prism faces are lustrous and finely striated, showing excellent crystal form and symmetry. There is a small attachment of white albite (variety cleavelandite) on the prism. This is an excellent quality, classic elbaite, and it comes from the distinguished collection of Peter Tarassoff, whose worldwide suite is highly regarded for its quality.
