A very fine gem-quality topaz thumbnail crystal from the classic Klein Spitzkopje locality in Namibia. This is a beautifully crystallized, single-terminated topaz crystal, completely matrix-less, with excellent form and a bright, glassy lustre. The crystal is water-clear and transparent throughout, placing it firmly in the gem-quality category. The topaz shows sharp, well-defined faces and a clean termination, with no distracting damage, just contact near the bottom. There is an attractive, subtle bluish tint present.

Klein Spitzkopje, located approximately 30 km from Usakos along the main road to Swakopmund, is the remnant of a ring complex known for its extensive miarolitic cavities. These cavities have produced superb mineral specimens, particularly textbook examples of topaz in gem-quality crystals. As with many granitic pegmatite environments, the crystals from this locality are prized for their sharp morphology and high clarity.

A wonderful thumbnail specimen of this now increasingly hard-to-find material, and an excellent representative example from one of Namibia’s most famous topaz localities.
