Titanite (twinned)

A sharp and well-formed titanite crystal of deep brown colour, displaying crisp, razor-sharp edges and good overall definition. The crystal appears to be twinned, subtly expressed, but noticable when inspected down the c axis. It is complete and the overall presentation is elegant, showcasing the classic wedge-shaped habit of titanite.

This specimen comes from the Highway 121 / Bethel Church area in Haliburton County, Ontario, a lesser-known but productive source of titanite within the Grenville Geological Province. The region is known for its complex metamorphic geology and has yielded a variety of well-crystallized minerals, including titanite from skarn and calc-silicate environments. Pieces from this area are appreciated for their sharp crystal forms and relatively limited availability.
