Grenville titanites are highly prized by both local rockhounds and international collectors, but obtaining undamaged crystals can be challenging due to the tough environments from which they are extracted and the brittle nature of the crystals themselves. Fortunately, this particular locality is known for producing robust, sharply angled, and lustrous titanite crystals with razor-sharp edges.
This specimen is attached to a matrix of micocline featuring many more smaller titanite growths all over enhancing its overall appeal. The specimen originates from a well-known pegmatite collecting locality within the Grenville Province in Quebec. The area is designated as a "Zec," which stands for "Zone d'Exploitation Contrôlée," meaning a controlled exploration zone, where collecting is managed to ensure the preservation of these remarkable mineral specimens.
