Titanite

These Grenvillian titanites from the Moncerf area of Quebec are highly prized by collectors for their superb crystal development, characterized by a distinctive shimmering brown-black velvety lustre and razor-sharp edges. Although titanite is typically brittle and often forms in challenging geological environments, this locality has earned a reputation for producing exceptional, well-preserved examples. This specimen is a very good representation, featuring a striking crystal in matrix accompanied by minor diopside. A subtle but attractive piece.
