This specimen features numerous metallic tetrahedrite-group crystals scattered across a plate-like matrix, accompanied by many mini brassy pyrite cubes resting on a sparkling bed of drusy quartz composed of miniature prismatic crystals. Intergrown between and around the quartz are what looks like a pale carbonate mineral, perhaps rhodochrosite or siderite. The combination of tetrahedrite, pyrite, quartz druse, and carbonate minerals makes for an attractive and relatively unusual association specimen.

Although the piece did not come with a label, the mineral assemblage and habit strongly suggest origin from one of the well-known Peruvian mining districts. Determining the exact mine would require further research, but Peru is a reasonable and informed attribution based on the specimen’s characteristics.
