A striking, glowing yellow cluster of terminated Sturmanite crystals perched on a hematite matrix. This rare and highly aesthetic thumbnail specimen comes from the renowned Black Rock Mine, South Africa. The Sturmanite crystals, slightly translucent with a bright lustre, exhibit sharp hexagonal prismatic forms and have slightly brown pointed terminations.
This piece likely dates back to the 1980s or 1990s, a period when this level of quality was last seen. Sturmanite, a complex and highly hydrated calcium-iron sulfate-borate, is a rare mineral and this thumbnail would make a superb addition for any thumbnail collectors collection.
