Strontianite (twinned)

A fine miniature specimen featuring translucent, pale pink tabular twinned crystals perched on a drusy quartz matrix. Minor clear dawsonite is present as an associated species. Under magnification, the specimen comes to life, with excellent sparkle and intricate crystal detail throughout.

Collected in the “Upper Sill” area of the Francon Quarry in central Montréal by Dr. Peter Tarassoff in 1970, this specimen comes from his collection. The Francon Quarry is renowned for its unique alkaline intrusive sill hosted within limestone and has produced an extraordinary suite of rare minerals. The quarry ceased operations in 1981 and will never reopen, making specimens from this locality increasingly scarce and highly sought after by collectors.
