This specimen features lilac-coloured, foliated stichtite intergrown with green foliated serpentine. Given its association, it likely also contains barbertonite, a polymorph of stichtite that, like its counterpart, forms as an alteration product of chromite in serpentinite. A striking and richly coloured example from the Kaapschehoop area in Mpumalanga, South Africa. Large, pure specimens of stichtite are uncommon, as the mineral is more typically found mixed with host rock or intergrown with green serpentine from various localities worldwide.
