This specimen features a sharp black octahedral spinel perched on a matrix alongside well-formed, tabular forsterite crystals and creamy white calcite. It’s a fine example from the well-known Parker Mine, a classic locality in Quebec. Originally opened in the early 1900s for mica mining, the Parker Mine area is noted for its abundance of exceptionally large and well-formed crystals of various rock-forming minerals, typically found in the region’s distinctive carbonate vein-dyke systems.
