This specimen features a cluster of bright orange sphalerite crystals attractively perched upon a small section of limestone matrix. The crystal exhibit fine translucency and strong internal reflections, displaying a remarkable fiery orange hue and an almost gemmy appearance under good lighting.
While sphalerite is a common sulfide species known from countless localities worldwide, specimens of this distinct orange variety from the Flamboro Quarry are much less common. Collecting at the site is now restricted, with access limited to a few organized club visits each year. As a result, finds like this have become increasingly scarce and desirable among mineral collectors. A fine representative example from a now-classic, limited-access locality.
