Sphalerite

Flamboro Quarry, West Flamborough Township, Hamilton, Ontario
Canada
Dimensions: 3.2x3.3x2.6 cm
Largest crystal size: 11 mm
Price: CA

This specimen features numerous complex, spinel-twinned clusters of bright orange sphalerite crystals attractively scattered across the limestone matrix. The crystals exhibit fine translucency and strong internal reflections, displaying a remarkable fiery orange hue and an almost gemmy appearance under good lighting.

While sphalerite is a common sulfide species known from countless localities worldwide, specimens of this distinct orange variety from the Flamboro Quarry are much less common. Collecting at the site is now restricted, with access limited to a few organized club visits each year. As a result, finds like this have become increasingly scarce and desirable among mineral collectors. A fine representative example from a now-classic, limited-access locality.

Note: All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD). International customers are charged in CAD, exchange rate is calculated automatically by your bank/paypal upon checkout.
